Local citizens and employers who care about the Bay gathered outside the Bay Conservation and Development Commission (BCDC) offices on Wednesday, October 17, 2018, to announce the formation of a new nonprofit called the SF Bay Stewardship Alliance, or “The Alliance”.
Latitude 38 reports that The Alliance has filed a lawsuit against the BCDC due to the agency’s lack of transparency and repeated attempts to thwart the Alliance’s efforts to obtain public records, including details on how the BCDC spends the fines it collects.
The SF Bay Stewardship Alliance website states they seek “an immediate suspension of enforcement actions by the BCDC as the audit continues and is pushing the BCDC for a return to fulfilling its original mandates.”
With a mission of “promoting informed conservation and responsible development of The Bay shoreline for the enjoyment of all”, bay area boaters should be motivated to join The Alliance and help with the fight for their right to enjoy the Bay.
